Excerpt of San Francisco Sectional Chart; Note that a lot of things are printed twice here, MEF, O57 info, MOA, etc…

If you look at the chart above, everything is printed twice! This must’ve been an error, right? Let’s report it to the FAA to get it fixed.

FAA’s website has a page detailing how do you file an inquiry for their products, which takes you to the Aeronautical Information Portal. After picking what product to report on and typing in the details and attach a picture, you will get a inquiry ID assigned and FAA will actually have someone to work on your case.

FAA got back to me the very next day, and of course, it was me being stupid. As we got used to using these charts digitally, we tend to forget that these charts are also produced for printed use as well. As paper products, these charts are made to be folded. If you actually purchase a San Francisco sectional cahrt, you will find the pre-fold line goes right across the middle of the picture here and therefore a lot of information is duplicated on both side, making sure they’re accessible on both fold.

so there it is, you’ve learned how dumb I am, how to file a charting error with FAA and why sometimes features are printed twice on a chart, three things in one go!
